Frequently asked questions.
How do I adopt a pet from Northwoods Animal Shelter
Apply. Visit. Adopt! Our application process is straightforward and can be done in-person or online. We vet every single applicant to ensure that these amazing animals are put in a loving forever home. Once your application has been reviewed, if approved you’ll be contacted to schedule a visitation. We retain the right to refuse adoption.
Can I adopt if I live in an apartment or rental property?
Yes, but you should ensure your lease allows pets and inquire about any breed or size restrictions. At Northwoods Animal Shelter, we ask for proof of landlord permission and direct contact information for your landlord, as well as personal references.
How can I donate to Northwoods Animal Shelter?
You can donate in person, by phone, or through our online donation portal. We also have programs like Planned Giving, Memory Bricks, and sponsoring adoptions.
Does the shelter offer spaying/neutering or vaccination services?
We do not offer veterinary services for animals outside of the shelter. If you adopt an animal from us, spaying/neutering, and vaccinations are included services as part of the adoption. You must provide contact information of an established veterinarian before adopting from Northwoods Animal Shelter.
